Brownie-Fairy

noun blending
Something that was accidentally described specifically when meant to be kept vague. Comes from a session of Dungeons and Dragons where the dungeon master accidentally told the players that a creature was a “Brownie” (a specific type of fairy in the game) and quickly followed it with “Fairy” (a more general creature type) so that the players wouldn’t know its exact abilities, even though the cover had been blown.

“The creature looks like a Brownie...Fairy”
Etymology : Blend of brownie “a small goblin like creature from Scottish folklore”+fairy “a fey creature”
