A rush of ice into one’s face, caused by drinking out of a cup and tipping it over too far The person probably wanted a clever way to describe something that happens often to many people. It creates a visual image in peoples’ heads, and gives a single word name to an action which doesn’t really have a name.
 
Did you just see that massive bevalanche? I hate when that happens!
Etymology : Blend, composed of beverage and avalanche
