slizzard

adjective tmesis
A state of alcoholic intoxication

“When we drink we do it right, gettin’ slizzard”
Etymology : The “izz” part of this word is very reminiscent of the suffix “-izz(le)” popularized by Snoop Dogg in such statements as “Fo Shizzle” (“For sure”) (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoop_Dogg). It could be that “izz(le)” was added into the word “slurred” which describes a drunk person. This becomes “sl(izz)ured” when “izz” is inserted into “slurred”. The spelling may then have changed from “slizzured” to “slizzard” which could be considered a more phonetic spelling. Also, this word formation seems to be similar to the word formation of “syrup” to “sizzurp” where the “-izz” is added directly into the middle of the word. Syrup/sizzurp refers to the codeine based concoction popularized by such Houstonian rappers as DJ Screw (WIES 145 lecture notes). I think the specific formation for this word is tmesis.
