charette

derivation noun
A period of intense design activity. Specifically architecture design – the last week of studio when archis work furiously to finish their projects.

“I'm not going home for Thanksgiving because of charette.”
Etymology : Etymology: From Old French charrette (cart). Perhaps from architecture students working on the final details of their projects while in the school cart on the way to submit their designs to their professors.
