Crackberry(2)

noun; blending
Refers to a blackberry phone device which has been modified in some way and is found to be addicting to the user. The blending of the word crack and blackberry signifies that the blackberry has been cracked. This meaning of cracked however is not “to be broken.” It probably refers to the modern meaning of crack which means to overcome a barrier as in “cracking a code.” The term was possibly coined and made widespread by the website crackberry.com which provides information on “cracking a blackberry,” meaning anything from modifying its hardware or just how to figure out its functions. Crack also refers to an addicting drug, and therefore provides crackberry with a connotation of someone attached to his blackberry phone.

“Is it a blackberry or a crackberry?”
Etymology : Blending of crack + (black)berry; Origins of word components – Proto-Germanic (krakojan) and Old English (bremelberie)
