analogy Noun
Originally the term newbie was used in the army to describe a new entrant/ private in the corps. The term noob was then derived from newbie and widely used in gaming circles to refer to a person that was new to a particular video game. Now the term is widely used and its meaning has been generalized to mean “ a person who is new to a particular situation “.
 
He’s such a noob at HALO, he only got 3 kills and died so many times.
Etymology : noob is derived from the word newbie by analogy.
